The title above is the book by the CEO of Intel, Andrew S. Grove. In "Only the Paranoid Survive" books, Grove warns against the 'inertia of success' and encourages readers to expose themselves to the winds of change and to do so constantly. His point is that strategic inflection isn't a point; it's a long, torturous struggle in which we'll have to manage the chaos.

Grove talks about what's beneath success with his six forces diagrams analogy, and the orientation of it is businesses. However, I don't want to describe the main points of his book because all of you can read it by yourself, except you all are too lazy and prefer to scroll TikTok. Otherwise, it would be more interesting if I interpreted the quotes of "Only The Paranoid Survive" by combining his ideas with the current situation and philosophy.

Have you done self-reflection recently? Like your best achievements so far or the things that you have successful fulfill. It could be yearly, monthly, weekly, or even daily. How did you make it? Why did you have to make it? What are you did after achieved it? Please comment below, I really interested to hear from you.

Well, if we do some historical research about why humans make it to be on top of the ecosystem, then surely there are a lot of factors. One of the many factors is that humans have magic tools called brains, where function of it is to possess information. Also, the brain allowed us to communicate with each other. But, the most important thing is that we have reason and sense.

This reason and sense then drag us to think about everything, especially ourselves. What restaurant should I choose for my first date, how to make her fall in love with me, why my parents selfish as fuck, etc. We also often think about how to avoid pain, suffering, and inconveniences. It all then leads to one thing, which is our happiness. All of us only chase this precious thing named happiness throughout our life.

The interesting part of human life is that we can not gain happiness without pain, suffering, and inconveniences. There must be a cost in order to achieve our desire. That’s why we often feel exhausted in our daily activities. We are exhausted because we are too busy and hurried to pursue happiness. However, the good thing is, only those who are busy and hurried to pursue happiness will survive.

To be sure, the definition of happiness is not always about material things. It also could be in the shape of our meaning of life, our spiritual journey, humanity, and so on. We want something which then becomes our desire, this desire then becomes our goal, and this goal if we achieved it then becomes our happiness.

If you are currently feeling in the tired phases of life, congratulations, it means you will survive. Keep dancing folks. It also indicates that you are a human being, which worried and paranoid about your future. As Rene Descartes said, cogito ergo sum (I think, therefore I’m). We only become truly human beings if we think. My point is, worry and paranoia are the manifests of thinking.

Many people out there only live just to live. They don’t worry about their future. Even if you are the son of Elon Musk, still you have to worry about your future because life is sometimes indeed, like a cycle. Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. It is your choice to choose what position you wanna be in. Good day from Jakarta…
