“From Tanah Abang to Sudirman”
Jakarta is a capital city of Indonesia where you can find anything in here, start from delicious traditional food in Pasar Baru, all expensive useless capitalist products in Grand Indonesia, to a slut in Kalijodo. Jakarta is the biggest modern city in Indonesia. I was born here in 1999 in a small clinic near to my house and also growth here until 2011 before I traveled to Balikpapan because of my father’s work. I have to admit that, there are a lot of things have changed in this city, such as infrastructures, roads and buildings.
As long as I live in Jakarta, I have my own perspective about it. Some of us who may not born, growth or visited Jakarta yet, are probably defined this city as a heaven where you can got a big opportunity in it. They interpreted Jakarta as a beautiful city like a dancing mermaid in the shore. They probably dream about having a property and stay in this city with their beautiful wife and kids. I remember when Kibo (my friend) told me that 80% of Indonesia’s circulating money are in Jakarta. So that, the statement about Jakarta is a city with hundred of opportunity seems logic for me.
When you visited south and centre of Jakarta, especially Senayan and Sudirman, you will see the “mermaid” that I’ve said before. Such as Lamborghini, Ducati, Gucci bags, Balenciaga shoes and Patek Philippe are often appear in this area. If you want to test the speed of your M5 BMW, then Sudirman and Senayan are the best place to go. This is a little pic of the beauty of Jakarta…

I called this city as an abstract art. The first picture is taken in Sudirman road and the second one is taken in Tanah Abang. The irony is, distance between Sudirman and Tanah Abang is just 2 kilometers away (approximately), but the different of this two area is like 180°. I don’t know if the Indonesian government are adherent of Yin-Yang’s philosophy who emphasis on the balance aspect or what. But, instead of talking about class difference, curruption and every bad aspect of this city that could makes me sick, I’m trying to see this phenomena as an abstract art.
