Life
Boys
Tell me, is it a bless or a curse to be born as a men? Indeed, is it a bless. We can’t choose our gender before we are born into this world. I can’t whisper my dad’s ear when he fucks my mom to tell him a particular sex style, so I have a higher chance of being born as an X or Y. My point is that it is beyond our control.
Ah, this article isn’t going to write about gender equality, a particular community, patriarchy, etc. I’m just getting bored on the airplane, and my head keeps strolling around, giving birth to the question, “How does it feel to live as a man?”
For the past 25 years since I was born, I have seen a lot. I’ve been here; I’ve been there. Sensing and dancing. Disappoint, suffer, feel useless, etc. Yet, I still burn my cigar and sing. For a moment, I think it is confusing why men should sacrifice more. Why is it our duty to protect our family? Guarantee happiness to our parents, wives, and kids seems to be our responsibility while no one commands us to do so. It just felt like a natural instinct that comes within our hearts: the meaning of a man’s life.
All the pressure on our chests sometimes makes it hard for us to breathe. With all due respect, I’ve often heard a rich man marry a broke woman, but I’ve never heard the opposite (especially in my country). That’s how we gain love. However, if we think about it carefully, it is actually a blessing for us. To live is to suffer, isn’t it? It actually makes us alive. The challenge, the pressure, the pain. Although we will only receive a flower in our grief, we keep carrying this heavy shit on our shoulders, aye? Keep your heads up, boys. We can make it.
Ah, I’m about to landing. Thanks for reading my article. I’m happy to get back to my parents. Minal aidin walnfaidizin to all my readers. My apologize if there are sentences from my articles that insult you. This head just wants freedom and will sing a drum of liberation when writing. Selamat malam from Balikpapan.
